City State Entertainment announced the launch date of the first beta of Camelot Unchained. However, this first testing phase of the MMORPG is limited to scenarios, and there is not yet an open game world. What can we expect from the 1st Closed Beta?
The beta starts on July 4th. When asked why they chose the summer time and thus the vacation period for the start of the testing phase, studio founder Mark Jacobs explained that he believes many players are at home during the holidays and would prefer to play rather than go on vacation. Moreover, this is only the first beta, so he does not expect as many players as with an open beta.
The first beta of Camelot Unchained offers
What can we expect from the beta?
There is no open game world – with fewer players, an open world would only cause unnecessary travel distances
The beta takes place on weekends
There are several scenarios
Castle sieges take place on weekends
NPCs/Bots will increase the population
The developers also spoke about the further course of the testing phase and about the release:
City State Games plans three closed beta phases before the open beta begins
Each phase will consist only of scenarios
An open world will only be available during the open beta
The release of the MMORPG is still planned for 2019
The beta may be postponed if necessary
There is still much to do
The team is now focused on optimizing the destructible environment and the buildings that you can destroy, as well as ensuring the necessary stability of the game before the beta starts. Additionally, the UI also needs to fit, as it is important for players to enjoy playing the MMORPG and not be put off by a placeholder interface.
City State Games hopes that many players will participate in the first beta of Camelot Unchained, who are also willing to provide feedback. But in general, they just want to offer everyone an exciting time during the battles. The launch will be on July 4th – unless something comes up.
