The first details about the multiplayer in Call of Duty WW2 are known. This includes a War mode and a headquarters reminiscent of Destiny.
With Call of Duty WW2, the game series returns from space to the battlefields of World War II. In a livestream, the developers behind Call of Duty WW2 revealed what you can expect in the new COD.

From Wall Runs to World War – The Multiplayer in COD Sounds “Different”
The new Call of Duty installment goes back to its roots and moves away from the modern and futuristic content that has been present in the last installments. Gone are the days of pushing off objects in space and flying weightlessly through the void, or using grappling hooks to pull yourself to other players. In COD WW2, players will again resort to “old” weapons. The motto is “Back to the Roots,” returning to the franchise’s origins.
In multiplayer mode, you can expect features and specific game modes that are designed to provide variety in the shooter. You’ll have the opportunity to showcase your skins in the headquarters, and in the War mode, you can reenact various historical battles.
“Divisions” sound like a class system in COD that allows you to unlock different content. And finally, the zombie mode can’t be missed, where you fight through a new story with friends.
In the Headquarters, Show What You Got
The headquarters is meant to be a place where you can showcase your skins and rewards/achievements. It is expected to be a large gathering point for players who can stay there between matches and observe each other.
Outside the lobbies, you will likely be able to meet with other players and view and compare player progress. The theme of the headquarters resembles the tower in Destiny, which serves as a meeting point for the guardians.
War Game Mode in Multiplayer
Among the new game modes in COD WW2 is “War.” There, the Allies face the Axis powers in strategic matches for various objectives on the map. Historical battles such as the landing and battle at Normandy are to be reenacted.
Instead of starting a large deathmatch, the focus is on objectives. One team, for example, tries to capture the beach from the sea, while the other team does everything possible to defend it.
The battles in multiplayer are expected to primarily take place on the Western Front, but are not limited to it.
Divisions in COD WW2
The divisions system sounds like a type of character progression that assigns your skills or achievements to specific divisions. A similar system exists in Battlefield 1, where different classes have various progressions that you can increase with experience points. By leveling up these class levels, you can unlock certain weapons or gear in BF1.
In Call of Duty WW2, the divisions could function similarly, rewarding players with unlocks that match their playstyle. However, these are just speculations based on the limited information circulating about the multiplayer.
Zombie Co-op Mode
Before the trailer was released, there were already teasers about the co-op mode in the new COD WW2. It has now been confirmed that the new installment of the series will not do without zombies. In this mode, a brand new, terrifying story is to be played. The Third Reich is desperately trying to build a new army in the final phases of the war.
You can play the zombie mode together with friends in co-op.
