In Call of Duty: Warzone, Season 4 starts this week, but a change in the game modes is not well received by the community.
What kind of sentence is that? On May 28, 2025, the patch notes for Season 4 of Call of Duty: Warzone and Black Ops 6 were released. In these patch notes, under the section “Playlist,” the following sentence can be read:
“Given its popularity and our continuous efforts to keep the playlist options focused and manageable, we will tentatively replace Battle Royale Solos with Battle Royale Casual Solos.“
This means that in the upcoming season of Warzone, you will no longer be able to play the regular “Battle Royale” mode solo. Instead, there will only be the Casual Solo mode.
What distinguishes regular Battle Royale from Casual mode? Battle Royale Casual is an intermediate step between normal Battle Royale, which focuses on PvP, and the bot mode (Warzone Bootcamp), where players are meant to learn the game mechanics.
The mode follows the usual “Battle Royale” gameplay, but you will encounter not only other players but also bots. Battle Royale Casual aims to introduce players to combat against other players in this way without immediately throwing them into the unforgiving PvP waters of the normal Battle Royale.
The Casual mode is therefore the place where you can experience the typical Warzone gameplay, including PvP, in a simplified environment without being sent to the Gulag by a sweaty player within the first seconds of a match.
What does the community say about the change? Many players criticize the change. Good players do not want to play the Casual mode because they want to compete against real players, not bots.
