At gamescom 2021, Call of Duty: Vanguard showcased its first gameplay for the campaign. It features action-packed scenes set during World War II. Notably, CoD is becoming more diverse, presenting long scenes from the perspective of a female soldier, with more women involved throughout.
What’s happening at gamescom? During Opening Night Live, Call of Duty: Vanguard revealed its first gameplay of the campaign. The new CoD will be released on November 5th and returns to its original setting in World War II.
The new gameplay scenes show two segments of the campaign, where you take on the role of Polina Petrova, fighting for her life in occupied Stalingrad.
What can be seen? Polina Petrova fights her way through a house occupied by Nazis. First with a knife, then with heavy weapons. There are several battles, but Polina manages to escape from the house, hide from a tank, and keep moving forward. In the end, however, she finds herself in a seemingly hopeless situation.
At this moment, the story jumps back an hour. It is bright and sunny, and even the birds are singing happily. But it is also just before the Nazis launch their attack on Stalingrad. Attack planes are firing their machine guns, bombers are dropping their lethal cargo. This long scene also ends in a seemingly fatal dead end.
