According to information from a US site, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is reportedly set to release in October 2018 without a traditional single-player campaign. The campaign simply will not be completed in time for the release. The focus of the new Call of Duty is said to be on the multiplayer mode. Another source even claims that a battle royale mode has been commissioned.
The US site Polygon reports today that it has learned from sources familiar with the project that Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 will launch without a traditional campaign. It has become clear that the campaign will not be ready in time for the release. The cited source wishes to remain anonymous.
Co-op mode to replace campaign – Focus on Zombie mode
Polygon further states:
- It has become clear to the developers that they will not be able to finish the campaign for Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 in time for the release
- As a result, Treyarch has focused on expanding the Zombie mode further
