“Call of Duty” is currently sending mysterious loot boxes to CoD content creators. Accompanying it is a note asking the recipients to open the boxes only on August 10th. The big question now: Will the reveal of the new CoD 2020 happen on 10.08.?
It is August 7, 2020, and we virtually know nothing about the new Call of Duty 2020, which is expected to be released in October.
Last year at this time, we had already seen the first images of the multiplayer mode of Modern Warfare, but for the release of the new “Call of Duty” 2020, those responsible seem to be keeping things more like the release of Warzone – silence almost until the last minute.
CoD 2020 remains mysterious…
But slowly, it seems that things are starting to move. Selected streamers and content creators around CoD have received mysterious boxes. Here is a picture of the huge loot box:
Why is the box still closed? The massive “treasure chests” come with an intrusive note warning the recipients: “Do not open this box before August 10, 2020 – 12 PM EDT”. The boxes may only be opened on the coming Monday at 6:00 PM German time.
In case the note is not informative enough, the CoD creators have also attached a heavy combination lock to the boxes. Just in the “unlikely” event that one of the streamers or news sites, which have the box sitting at their workplace over the weekend, gives in. The “unlock code” for the combination lock will be provided by Activision itself.
The CoD news site “Charlie Intel” also received a box and wrote: “We have to wait until Monday, August 10th, at 12 PM EDT to send a text message to a number provided by Activision. Then we will see the unlock code for the actual box and find out what is inside it.”
So far, none of the recipients seems to have attacked the boxes with heavy tools, so we have not been able to find any images or videos of opened boxes yet.
No hints about the contents of the loot boxes
What’s in the boxes? That will probably remain pure speculation until the boxes are opened on Monday. As long as none of the recipients has a breakdown and the boxes do not lose their lids through axe attacks or crowbars, you will have to wait until Monday.
The boxes themselves provide no information about what is inside. There are no similarities to known symbols or boxes from the CoD games, and the numbers on the boxes do not seem to mean anything at first glance. The number of the two boxes known so far:
- 837-10475
- 406-59724
The mysterious boxes that were sent to selected content creators before Season 5 at least had a hint about the new “CoD MW 2019” faction “Shadow Company” and included a personal letter. In this case, the packaging was almost more informative than the included video messages. Here you will find all the information about the brand new Season 5.
What could be in the boxes? Most suspect a connection to the upcoming “Call of Duty: Cold War,” which will be released later this year – that is CoD 2020. Merchandise items might be inside that point so clearly to a “Cold War” scenario that there is hardly any room for interpretation.
Similarly, there could be a puzzle in the box that is more in line with the Warzone style and raises further questions that might be answered with instructions inside the box.
Some CoD fans on reddit are wondering why the boxes haven’t been opened violently yet. Here, too, there is speculation about a connection to the new CoD 2020, but there are also some particular ideas about what might be in the box:
- “That’s the new download size”
- “Inside is the new anti-cheat system”
- “A real-life juggernaut suit”
By Monday evening, you will know more, and MeinMMO will keep you updated. If you want to unveil some CoD secrets until then, you can find here 4 secret changes of Warzone with Season 5 that were not included in the patch notes.
The box in the title image comes from the article by Charlie Intel, which is linked in the sources.
