The developers of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare have announced that the largest mode, Ground War, will not be playable directly at release. Why is that?

Original announcement – When will Ground War come? In a tweet, developer Infinity Ward announced that the largest mode of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, Ground War, will launch “Friday night”. This presumably refers to American time.
A specific time has not yet been given. The USA also has several time zones that could apply for the rough indication.
However, we estimate that Ground War will go online on Saturday morning between 2 and 5 AM.
Why is Ground War coming later? There is still no reason given for the delayed launch of Ground War. Fans suspect that the delay is intended to preserve server capacity at launch.
If the largest mode were available online right away, the servers could crash due to the sheer number of players. To prevent this, Ground War is now being postponed, even if only for a few hours.
When does Call of Duty: Modern Warfare launch? The release of the new Call of Duty is on the night from Thursday, the 24th, to Friday, the 25th of October at 12:00 AM for Xbox One and PS4 and at 3:00 AM for PC.
The preload for Modern Warfare has already started for all platforms. The game can be downloaded in advance.
Ground War – The largest mode in Modern Warfare
What is Ground War? In Ground War (also known as: Ground War), teams of 32 players compete against each other – a total of 64 players on the map. The mode is thus more reminiscent of traditional Battlefield than of Call of Duty.
Ground War features control points that players must capture and hold as a victory condition.
The typical CoD features of loadouts with weapon attachments and killstreaks will also be usable here.
These modes are available immediately: In addition to Ground War, three other modes will be released:
- The classic multiplayer
- Special Ops
- and the campaign
In the campaign, players can earn experience points and exclusive equipment for multiplayer and Special Ops for the first time.
