With Call of Duty: Black Ops 4, the Days of Summer are here. This means the Operation Spectre Rising is entering its second half. What can players expect?
Update 4.6.: The “Days of Summer” event has started on PS4. Call of Duty announced this via Twitter. The Xbox One and PC platforms are expected to follow later.

This is what Black Ops 4 has now announced: Sony and Treyarch have announced the Days of Summer for Black Ops 4 with a short teaser trailer. A start date has already been provided. They are set to begin on June 4.
What are the Days of Summer? Many fans wonder what the Days of Summer actually are. Is it a new operation, i.e., season? After all, the next operation is announced for the summer according to the roadmap. Is it an event? There has already been some confusion about this.
The Days of Summer are essentially a major seasonal update as part of the ongoing Operation Spectre Rising. It is not a new season starting on June 4, but rather the beginning of the second half of Spectre Rising. Treyarch recently clarified this once again.
What can players expect? The teaser trailer does not reveal much about the Days of Summer. One should not expect monumental changes, as the update still belongs to the ongoing season. New Specialists or a new Zombie map will likely not be included.
However, Treyarch has already presented some features to keep fans entertained over the summer. These will include:
- New modes for the Blackout mode
- New map updates (presumably suited for summer)
- new weapons (a new sniper has already been confirmed by Treyarch)
- and other unannounced changes
which will be released as part of the Days of Summer. Additionally, players can expect further cosmetic content as part of a new stream for the Black Market.
The smuggler stream at the start of Spectre Rising only had 50 ranks. Treyarch had already emphasized that this was only for the first half of the operation. More content for the Black Market is expected to follow in the summer and during events. As the Days of Summer are a major seasonal update, this content will likely be available in the game from June 4.

What is next for Black Ops 4? Many fans are currently puzzling over this. So far, it is only known that Black Ops 4 will receive a 5th operation in summer and a 6th operation in autumn after Spectre Rising. What will happen to the game beyond this is still unknown.
Many players fear that Treyarch could neglect Black Ops 4 in the future. Apparently, after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2019, the next series installment will again be a Black Ops. There are reports that Treyarch is allegedly already developing Black Ops 5 for 2020.
It will be interesting to see how things will progress with Black Ops 4 beyond autumn 2019.
