A special four-legged friend causes a mix of fear, frustration, and sympathy among players in the multiplayer of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. The new Call of Duty currently has a massive dog problem.
The specialist Nomad can unleash a combat dog on the enemies in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. However, this very four-legged friend is currently heating up the emotions of the players. It feels terrible to be torn to pieces by the dog, but killing the dog feels even worse.
A dog drives Black Ops 4 players crazy
How does one get the dog? Dogs have existed in Call of Duty as a score streak before. In the multiplayer of Black Ops 4, it is Nomad’s special ability, so you do not need to be on a kill streak to deploy the dog in Black Ops 4. Accordingly, you often face the four-legged friend in multiplayer matches – even when the opposing team is being completely dominated.

This is how the dog causes trouble: The integration of the dog into the game currently feels far from optimal. Particularly the fact that you need considerable amounts of ammunition to take down the beast causes frustration and anger. The dog is like a sponge for bullets. Some players have already remarked that they would like to have armor like the dog – it is probably the best in the game.
Additionally, the dog is smaller than an opponent and can often only be spotted late – often too late. Because once the four-legged friend gets close to you, it’s basically over.
There is also sympathy for the dog: Nevertheless, some players find it hard to send the killing machine to the virtual doggy heaven – and not just because the dog is a bullet sponge. The whimpering sound the dog makes when it dies is truly heart-wrenching and makes it hard for some dog lovers among the players.

It almost feels like the developers tried to create an emotional barrier here. The dog is one of the biggest threats in multiplayer, but when you eliminate this threat, you apparently should feel as bad as possible.
A fan humorously remarked in a discussion on Reddit: “Shoot a rocket launcher at it – that helps drown out the sound.”

This is how players are currently solving the dog problem: You can only partially defend against the combat dog. However, even killing the dog is difficult for some players. Therefore, a widely adopted solution in the community is:
Players often see no other option but to resign themselves to their fate. Only a few manage to take down the dog or escape from it with a lot of luck before it leaps at their throat.
How can Treyarch solve the dog problem? Almost all fans agree that something must change regarding the current state of the Nomad dog. Many players believe that a significant intervention is not even necessary.
Only the health points or the armor of the dog need to be reduced – and for animal lovers, the sound when dying. This way, it would still remain an effective weapon and could secure some extra kills. But as an opponent, players would have a fair chance to defend themselves against this killing machine. The developers definitely need to improve on this in the future.
