It is still unclear how many players can compete against each other in the in-house Battle Royale mode Blackout in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Information from merchants now provides a possible new hint.
Recently, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was listed on the website of the leading game retailer GAME from the UK. The game’s description also contained details about the player count of the Blackout mode. However, this information has not been officially confirmed.
Maximum player count in Blackout likely follows genre standard
Like the competition: If we are to believe the game description, up to 100 players will be able to participate in matches in the Blackout mode of Black Ops 4 – just like in Fortnite, PUBG, or H1Z1.
The feature was described with the words: “…you are competing against 99 other players on the largest Call of Duty map…”. However, the wording of the description has since been changed.
Speculations about the size: There has been speculation about the total player count in Blackout for some time now. While numerous sources have suggested a reduced player count (60), there were also previous hints of up to 100 players. Whether the most recent information is an error or an actual premature release is still unknown.
Blackout Beta should bring clarity: A dedicated beta for the Blackout mode of Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is scheduled for September. By then, there should be an official statement regarding the maximum player count of the battle royale mode.
