For the movie The Lost World: Jurassic Park, a video game was released for the PS1, for which one of the main actors recorded a secret ending. In it, he congratulates the players but also has a well-meaning piece of advice for them.
The Lost World: Jurassic Park was the sequel to the successful first part by Steven Spielberg. The film was released in 1997. Still in the same year, a video game was launched. It was published by Electronic Arts and Sega and was available for the PlayStation 1 and the Sega Saturn.
In the game, players must master side-scrolling levels with one of 5 characters. Those who make it to the end unlock a secret ending. In it, none other than Jeff Goldblum speaks up, who plays Ian Malcolm, a mathematician, in the films. His message to the players still brings a smile 28 years later.

“Turn off the game, for heaven’s sake”
What does the secret ending look like? A video starts showing Jeff Goldblum on the beach. He looks into the camera and thus directly addresses the players.
At first, he expresses his joy and congratulates for completing the game. He also thanks the players for enduring so long. However, then his tone changes and he urges to put the game aside:
Turn off the game, for heaven’s sake, and go outside. Breathe the fresh air, take a walk, call a member of the opposite sex. You know what I mean? You have a whole life out there. Let the smell blow away.
Goldblum’s comments are meant to be humorous, but there is also some truth in them. As much fun as gaming is, one should not forget the real world out there. The core of his statement still holds true 28 years later.
Here you can see the clip in full length:
What is Jeff Goldblum’s reaction to the video? Many years later, a journalist from Game Informer showed the actor the clip and recorded his reaction. Goldblum seems very amused by himself and nods in agreement with his younger self.
He can remember the day the video was filmed. It was probably on a beach in Hawaii. The line where players are urged to let the smell blow away was reportedly improvised by Goldblum himself.
The game is several years old now, but the ending with Jeff Goldblum is still relevant. Have you played The Lost World: Jurassic Park and found the video at the end?
