As with previous installments, Battlefield 2042 is released in various versions and offers different bonuses to entice players to pre-order.

For whom is pre-ordering worthwhile? Those who want to play the beta as early as possible might be interested. There is also a pre-order pack with some goodies that might be of interest to some players.

All information about early access
When does early access to Battlefield 2042 start? The early access phase for Battlefield 2042 begins on November 12, 2021. As of now, you can start the game at 9:00 AM as soon as it has been downloaded.
This is how you participate in early access: You must have pre-ordered either the Gold or Ultimate Edition, or be a subscriber to EA Play – this way you can play for 1 € earlier. Those who do not meet these requirements will have to wait until the actual release.
To avoid losing game time with the download, it might be worth pre-loading the game.

All about the pre-order bonuses
These are the pre-order bonuses for each edition: Regardless of which edition you pre-order, you will receive a pre-order pack consisting of:
- Close-Quarters Blade Baku ACB-90
- Epic Weapon Talisman “Mr. Chompy”
- Player Card Background “Landing”
- Dog Tag “Old Guard”
These are purely cosmetic bonuses. If you are definitely going to play Battlefield 2042 and want to test the beta as early as possible, pre-ordering is worth considering. However, it is not necessary to compete with other players after the release.
If you have an EA Play subscription, you can also participate in an early access phase for the full version of the game, which starts on November 12.
CrossGen and Cross-Progression
For whom is the purchase of the Standard Edition worthwhile? EA has now adjusted the digital Standard Editions for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S.
Those who purchase these editions automatically receive the version for Xbox One and PS4. This way, players who have not yet been able to purchase one of the new consoles can already play on the older consoles. Thanks to cross-progression, you can easily carry over your progress. However, the editions cost 10 euros more.
Note: The editions for Xbox One and PS4 differ significantly from those of PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. For example, fewer players will be present on the maps. The maps will also be considerably smaller – Here are the differences summarized.
For whom are the Gold and Ultimate Editions worthwhile? The Gold and Ultimate Editions are particularly interesting for players who enjoy in-game goodies and are interested in the season pass.
Especially the season pass might be important for veterans and Battlefield fans, and with the Gold Edition, you can save money instead of buying all content individually.
Again, anyone who is absolutely sure to buy Battlefield 2042 and definitely wants the season pass included might be interested in one of the two special editions.
Year-1 Pass and Battle Passes
What is actually included in the season pass? The season pass applies for the first year after the release and includes four seasons. Per season there are
- a new specialization
- a battle pass
- three epic skin bundles
True Battlefield fans might be interested in the Ultimate Edition. In addition to the season pass, it also comes with the official soundtrack, a digital artbook, and legendary skins. However, if you value physical collectibles, you might be disappointed. Because here EA offers nothing at all.
Cancel Battlefield 2042 Pre-order – Here’s how

Instructions:
- Log in on your PC
- Click on View → Settings
- Select “View account details”
- Go to “View purchase history”
- There you can select the game and request a refund
Cancel on Origin
Instructions:
- Go to the EA website (via ea.com)
- Select your account settings, at the top right of the page
- Go to order history
- Select Battlefield 2042 and cancel the order
- If this option is not displayed, use EA’s contact page (via help.ea.com) and contact support directly
Cancel on PS4 and PS5
Instructions:
- Select support on the PlayStation website (via playstation.com)
- Go to “PS Store and Refunds”
- There you must click on “Information on PS Store refunds”
- With the refund assistant, you should be able to cancel your game
Cancel on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One
Instructions:
- Go to the Xbox support website (via xbox.support.com)
- There you must click on the contact window “How to contact us”
- Through the assistant, select “Subscriptions and Billing”
- You can then choose your contact method and initiate the cancellation with support.
When is the release of Battlefield 2042? The new shooter will be released on November 19 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S and in an adjusted version also for Xbox One and PS4.
