You can now buy the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. We show you where you can buy it and tell you for whom the purchase is worthwhile.
What time does the sale start? Since March 18, 2021, at 2 PM CET, you can buy the AMD Radeon 6700 XT.
When will the custom designs be available? The custom designs of the Radeon graphics cards have also been available since March 18, 2021. You can only order the reference model directly from AMD.
How much does the graphics card cost? AMD charges 479 euros for its reference model, but prices at various online retailers are usually between 900 and 1000 euros, effectively doubling it. One retailer had sold the RX 6700 XT even before the release for double the price.
How good is the Radeon RX 6700 XT?
In the first tests, the RX 6700 XT provides good performance and ranks between the RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070. Thus, AMD achieves its goal of beating the RTX 3060 Ti but does not quite reach the RTX 3070. It is missing about 7 – 10% performance. However, the price of the RX 6700 XT is officially lower than that of the RTX 3070.
How important is ray tracing to you? If ray tracing and high performance are important to you, there is currently no way around Nvidia’s RTX 3000 graphics cards. They still offer you the faster ray tracing and DLSS.
Who is the graphics card interesting for? The graphics card is particularly interesting for you if you want to game in WQHD resolution with at least 90 FPS. If you only want to play in Full HD with high frame rates, you could also consider the RTX 3060.
Both Nvidia and AMD graphics cards are currently hard to come by.
If ray tracing is not that important to you, then the RX 6700 XT is a good alternative to the RTX 3070 and RTX 3060 Ti. On one hand, it offers more performance than the RTX 3060 Ti and is partially just behind the RTX 3070. On the other hand, the Radeon graphics card has more video memory than the competition.
Especially DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) is a point that currently speaks for Nvidia. Also because AMD has now stated that FidelityFX Super Resolution will likely not arrive until the end of 2021 (via GameStar.de). Moreover, we currently do not know how powerful AMD’s DLSS counterpart will ultimately be. Here we need to wait for the first independent benchmarks.

What other graphics cards are available from AMD? AMD had already introduced its new high-end graphics cards for gamers at the end of 2020. The RX 6800 (XT) and RX 6900 XT also provide enough performance for 4K resolution but have a disadvantage compared to Nvidia in ray tracing and due to the lack of a DLSS alternative.
