Bungie is not only continuing to work on the Destiny series, but already has another hot iron in the fire with the new project. Job postings are now giving us more insight into the new game.
What kind of game is it? Not much is known about Bungie’s new project yet. It is the new game from Bungie and is said to focus on fun characters and humor. The game is expected to be released by 2025 and will differ from Destiny 2. Allegedly, the name or at least the project title is Matter, as Bungie trademarked this name.
Necromancy and Dungeons?
What new information has surfaced? Bungie is currently looking for new employees. The job postings reveal some interesting details about the new game.
In the job posting for an Investment Designer, it states:
You are the glue between the sword and the reward. You work with our sandbox and economy teams to create and distribute items to our players. Life in a huge database with hundreds of bullets, weapons, and armor is nothing new to you. Just like building a system to cleverly distribute these items in a necromancer’s dungeon.

This suggests that necromancy and dungeons will play a role, which could hint at a fantasy scenario. This would make sense to clearly differentiate the new game from Destiny 2.
What else is known? Apparently, we can expect RPG elements, as the job posting further states:
Experience designing, documenting, and executing single-player, investment, or other fundamental RPG game systems at any scale.

RPG elements should not be a surprise. After all, Destiny 2 also offers these.
Earlier this year, it was revealed that Bungie wants to focus more on humor with the new game. Back then, it was mentioned in the job posting for an Incubation Art Director:

Drop rates, a progression system, loot, monetization, and even PvE elements also seem to play a significant role according to further job listings.
What could all this combined mean? It seems that with Matter we are getting a kind of Destiny where you are not moving in a science fiction scenario, but in a fantasy world. Necromancy and dungeons will apparently play a role.
Besides that, you will also look for plenty of loot in Matter and improve your hero based on RPG systems. Whether all of this is true will be revealed when Bungie officially introduces the new game.
