Bungie has announced a tougher stance against cheaters in the last TWaB. Players using aimbots in Destiny 2 are currently under particular scrutiny from the developers.
Bungie intends to take action: In the last “This Week at Bungie” blog, there were updates regarding the Security Response Team of Destiny 2. The members of this team address potential cheating in the game and inform the Guardians about possible issues.
The TWaB highlighted two key points: aimbots vs macros and players with connection issues.

Cheaters not welcome: The developers believe that it is important for people with disabilities to be able to use input assistance. An example given was simple automation via macro.
Therefore, Bungie also fixed the issue with Titan Skating on PC in the game, instead of punishing the Guardians who utilize such automation tools. Titan Skating became a problem on PC because players could achieve a speed with their Titans that was impossible for non-macro users. This has already caused trouble in PvP and Raid Speedruns.

However, for Bungie, there is a line between macros and aimbots. Therefore, the developers are currently in the process of banning PC players who would use aimbots in Destiny 2. Defeating opponents, whether AI enemies or other players, should always be based on one’s own skill.
Warnings proving effective: Additionally, Bungie has announced that 90% of players who received a warning in the past for a poor network connection have not exhibited poor connections since. In December, the developers launched an initiative to issue warnings and restrictions to players with poor connections.
Poor network connections, among other things, make PvP in Destiny 2 a nightmare.
There should soon be more loot in the new activities:
