The Primus Engrams in Destiny 2 are currently causing confusion and concern among the player base. Bungie is now clarifying a few things.
This is why players are worried: Shortly after the launch of the Forsaken expansion, an exploit was discovered in Destiny 2. With this exploit, players can obtain Primus Engrams excessively quickly, which advance Guardians’ Power Level beyond the soft cap.
However, Bungie stated that using this exploit will have negative effects for the future.
Players who extensively use the exploit will not receive any Primus Engrams for the next two to three weeks. This is because those who farm many Primus Engrams at once will see a reduced drop rate in the near future.
Who should worry about negative effects? On Reddit and in other forums, many Guardians expressed concern. They wrote that they received two or three Primus Engrams in a relatively short time, but did not use any exploit.
Now they wonder if they are also affected by negative effects.
Those who do not extensively use the exploit need not worry
Bungie reassures the community: Early on, Bungie’s Community Manager Cozmo stated that one should not fear a drought of Primus Engrams if they have “accidentally” used the exploit a few times.
An official statement has since appeared on the Bungie website:
“Players who receive Primus Engrams under normal gameplay conditions should not experience the negative effects of this exploit.” They have noticed the many concerns from players.
One need not worry when playing Destiny 2 normally.
How do Primus Engrams work?
Information about Primus Engrams:
- One only receives Primus Engrams if they have the Primus Determination buff. This buff is received once a character reaches level 50 and speaks with Master Rahool in the Tower.
- Primus Engrams drop randomly from “challenging enemies” and upon completing Crucible matches.
- Once a Primus Engram is obtained, a cooldown period starts. Only after this cooldown period has passed can one randomly receive another Primus Engram.
- Primus Engrams go into the inventory and must be decrypted by the Cryptarch.
- Primus Engrams grant an item with a power level that depends on the currently best possible power level of the Guardian. They assist in advancing one’s power level progress, even above 500.
The developers are currently working on a fix for the exploit.
