In Destiny 2, an exploit has been fixed that allowed players to receive double the amount of exotic class items in the mission Destiny Duel
. This correction was made in two steps through updates.
What was this glitch? This glitch allowed players in Destiny 2 to receive more exotic class items. The mission “Destiny Duel” started as a secret mission on June 11, and the glitch was discovered shortly thereafter. The error was fixed in two steps: first with patch 8.0.0.4 and finally through update 8.0.0.5 on June 25.
Two exotic class items per drop
How did the glitch work? For the glitch to work, both players in the mission “Destiny Duel” had to use the same class.
In the final boss arena of the mission, there would have been a display case from which the players could have retrieved their exotic class items. The glitch required that both players take the item from this display case at exactly the same time.
After simultaneously picking up the item, players would have to quickly sprint together to one of the many corners of the map and then activate a “join ally” feature.
If the players had followed this prompt, they could have teleported back to the vicinity of the display case and retrieved the class item once again.
What advantage did this glitch have? Through these steps, players in the mission Destiny Duel
were able to double their rewards, meaning they received two exotic class items per completion of the mission.
This method was particularly effective and allowed players to gather many valuable items in a short amount of time. With the fix of the glitch by updates 8.0.0.4 and 8.0.0.5, this farming method is no longer available, and players must revert to conventional methods to obtain their exotic class items.
