Bungie has now removed a dialogue from the online shooter Destiny 2 that has annoyed players after more than 3 years. Some lines from the clan vendor Hawthorne in the Tower date back to 2017, and the hardest fans of Destiny have heard them hundreds of times by now.
This is the change: Bungie released the patch notes for the new season in Destiny 2, the “Season of the Chosen.” However, some changes were kept from the fans. They have now been added in the blog “This Week at Bungie.”
It states that the dialogue from Hawthorne has been removed when players complete a clan challenge.
“You just never give up, do you?”
What kind of dialogue is this? The NPC Suraya Hawthorne is the clan vendor in the Tower. Every time a player completes the weekly clan challenge, Hawthorne recites the same speech that the woman with the falcon has been delivering for more than 3 years.
In the dialogue, Hawthorne reminds players that they defeated Ghaul and awakened the Traveler and yet continue on. They are quite remarkable individuals.
This bothered players: Hawthorne only had this one dialogue when completing the clan challenge, and Guardians found the lines extremely annoying. The dialogue is also relatively long, specific, and now hopelessly outdated. After all, the related campaign is not even in the game anymore.
Defeating Ghaul and awakening the Traveler – those are events from far in the past. Guardians did this back in 2017. Being bombarded with it even in 2021 was too much for players a long time ago.
Because many players complete this clan challenge every week, sometimes with 3 heroes, the hardest fans of Destiny have heard or ignored this dialogue hundreds of times by now. For some, it’s been getting on their nerves since 2018.
Back in 2018, Guardians demanded: “The dialogue needs to be updated urgently, my ears are bleeding already.”
After 3.5 years, many Guardians could now recite the dialogue from memory. Bungie has finally taken mercy on them and removed the dialogue from the game.
