Destiny 2 offers new activities in each season to keep players engaged for a while. However, despite the continuous influx of content, fans of the loot shooter are longing for more love for their old core modes. We will show you more about it.
Which core modes are we talking about? In Destiny 2, there are three core activities that are firmly embedded in the loot shooter. These include:
- The Vanguard playlists
- The Crucible
- Gambit
These activities are the cornerstones of Destiny 2. With them, Guardians can experience variety after hours of grinding the same seasonal modes without any problem. However, Guardians complain that little to nothing is being done for these core modes.
Especially Gambit has suffered, as there hasn’t been a new map implemented in years. If the developers continue as usual and only focus more on the seasons, Destiny 2 will face greater problems.
Destiny 2 has many issues, but Bungie is covering them up
Guardians sense something bad: On reddit, players are discussing the current policy that Bungie is following. While seasons are getting cool new weapons and locations like the Leviathan or even activities, the old familiar modes, such as Gambit, are being neglected. But there are also small things being criticized:
- Destination areas are useless – no player likes to sit down to tackle patrols or gather resources
- Europa has made good strides forward, but Bungie has never expanded the system to other destination areas
- The season pass is outdated and offers no more incentives to grind beyond level 100
- However, the mechanics of the seasonal activities are also throttled by Bungie after their “lifespan”
- The prime example in this case is the Eternity challenges
- Players no longer receive Strange Coins from core activities, but did at release
- The prime example in this case is the Eternity challenges
- The normal Strike playlists are too easy, outdated, and can even be completed solo without effort
- The Crucible always has the same mode (Control) active, and this hasn’t offered any variety after many years.
Because of this, players believe that if Bungie continues down this path and does nothing for the long-lasting content in Destiny 2, the old content will turn away many old as well as new players.
Small changes would be enough: Players are not asking for huge update packages. It would be sufficient if Bungie served up small tidbits to the Guardians.
- Implementing the old Gambit maps in the Dreaming City and the Tangled Shore would bring fresh air.
- Strikes, like the Weapon Dealer, should be sorted out and offer more challenges
- The Red War has been removed from Destiny 2, yet players wonder why these story fragments are still present in the loot shooter while the Tangled Shore strike “The Hollow Hideout” has been removed
- New maps and modes for the Crucible that can rotate more often
- Create a drive and better rewards for destination areas
- Same system as in Beyond Light and the Ice Moon “Europa”
- Rewards after season pass level 100
- e.g. every five or ten levels an exotic or luminous engram
Therefore, Guardians are already thinking about how to keep core activities more exciting because Destiny 2 is not doing it. Recently, player RazuriRapisu suggested on reddit adding the Nightmare Hunts to the Strike playlist. That would be just a small change, but it could bring a lot of variety.
Essentially, these are small adjustments and no huge and new content that Bungie must conjure up.
These can even be introduced gradually in each ongoing season. Such wishes or notes have often been commented on by Bungie themselves on reddit, but many fans have destroyed the communication basis of the developers with anger. So, it is hard to assess whether Bungie already has such steps planned.
What do you think of these community remarks? Do you find it good that players bring these things up, or have you already given up hope for Gambit and the rest? Let us know in the comments!
