The Invitations of the Nine, the new feature from Xur, will only be introduced on March 15th at Destiny 2. However, some players have already been able to try these new bounties.
What are the Invitations of the Nine? For all owners of the Annual Pass, a new feature of the Season 6 goes live today – The Invitations of the Nine, formerly known as Xur’s bounties. These involve new content that deals with the mysterious group “The Nine” and aims to shed more light on them.
So far, not much is known about the Nine. Aside from numerous mentions in the lore of Destiny, the Guardians have only interacted with their agent Xur and their emissary at the Trials of the Nine or in the Queen’s Court.

How have the Invitations of the Nine already been played? Actually, this feature is supposed to go live today, on March 15th. However, due to a bug, some players were already able to complete Xur’s new quest.
Just before the Weekly Reset on March 12th, some Guardians were still with Xur looking through his offerings. When the reset occurred, Xur was still briefly available if you were in his menu at that moment.
While the Exotics disappeared from his inventory, a quest for the Invitation of the Nine appeared at the same time. This could already be accepted.
What is behind the Invitations of the Nine? These are a type of bounties that are story-driven and can be undertaken week by week. In total, there are apparently nine of them.
You receive them from Xur. These bounties require you to complete various tasks that are not very complicated and can be mastered relatively quickly.
As the first reports and videos show, you will be rewarded with a lot of exciting lore throughout their duration, as well as a powerful reward at the end. Random legendary and even exotic items seem to be possible here.
The lore is told, for example, through encounters with the Emissary of the Nine in the Unknown Space or through completely new cutscenes featuring the Drifter and other characters from the Destiny universe.
The exact number of extensive cutscenes is currently unknown. However, fans claim to have discovered at least three based on the first leaked scene and the existing promo material.

These are all the Invitations of the Nine: Clever fans have also found all 9 invitations and their corresponding tasks in the data of Destiny 2. Here’s what is ahead for the Guardians:
- “The World” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies in the EDZ. For this, complete the strike “The Mind of the Shadow” and gather Cabal, Taken, and Fallen samples.
- “Death” – Complete Crucible matches in the Quickplay, Rumble, and competitive playlists. You need to achieve 3 kills in each playlist.
- “Justice” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies on Titan. For this, complete the strike “Savathûn’s Song” and gather Hive and Fallen samples.
- “Strength” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies on Mercury. For this, complete the strike “A Garden World” and gather Hive, Vex, and Cabal samples.
- “The Hanged Man” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies in the Dreaming City. For this, complete the strike “The Corrupted” and gather Hive, Scorn, and Taken samples.
- “The High Priestess” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies on Nessus. For this, complete the strike “The Twisted Tower” and gather Vex, Cabal, and Fallen samples.
- “The Wizard” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies on Io. For this, complete the strike “The Pyramidion” and gather Vex, Cabal, and Taken samples.
- “The Tower” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies in the Tangled Shore. For this, complete the strike “The Hollowed Lair” and gather Vex, Hive, and Scorn samples.
- “The Twins” – You should collect metaphysical samples from defeated enemies on Mars. For this, complete the strike “Strange Terrain” and gather Hive and Cabal samples.
After completing these tasks, each time it will lead you to the Emissary of the Nine in the Unknown Space as part of the step “Into the Unknown” – a sort of parallel dimension where the mode “The Reckoning” takes place. There you will receive the reward as well as more lore. Whether a special ending or a unique reward awaits after completing all 9 bounties is currently still unknown.
