The developers of Fortnite (PC, PS4, Xbox One) provided insight into what they are planning for their survival shooter in the future. It was emphasized that bug fixes now take priority, but new content is on the way. It just takes a little longer with the content.
The developers of Fortnite gave an update on their future plans in a video on YouTube. Production Director Zak Phelps and Creative Director Darren Sugg explained that bug fixes take priority. However, there is expected to be more content by the next patch.
First big EA patch should eliminate key bugs
Last week, Fortnite received its first major early access patch 1.4. There were several bugs that the team aimed to eliminate:
- For some Xbox One players, it was impossible to start Fortnite at all.
- Then there were problems in the match lobby, and groups could not form correctly.
- Some players were even unable to complete certain content like the ninja quest.
Fixing such “key bugs” is prioritized according to Phelps and Sugg.
Additionally, there were server crashes and the launcher partially malfunctioned. Epic Games also wants to resolve these performance issues as quickly as possible.
In the future, several hundred hours of content will be added
The developers are aware that the community is thirsty for more content. Nevertheless, new content takes time and it may take a while before the storyline in Fortnite progresses further.
Currently, a writer is being employed to work on the main story, and new voice actors have already been hired. However, these developments take time, and Epic Games asks for the players’ patience.
Phelps and Sugg promised that at this point, several hundred hours of content are still planned. Fortnite is designed for many years of development, and the content should arrive accordingly.
Fortnite’s new patch 1.5 brings fresh content
Although it will take a little longer for the storyline to progress, Phelps and Sugg announced new content for the next patch 1.5. There will be a new event for players. The last event gave players extra llamas and V-Bucks.
The developers did not want to reveal in detail what content will be added. However, patch 1.5 is expected to introduce new ways to obtain loot.
Work is also currently being done on things like economy balancing. But this will take a bit more time as the relevant data needs to be evaluated.

What many Fortnite players are currently upset about is a reset of the player bases. The bases were destroyed, and Fortnite’s builders had to start everything from scratch. However, there was no mention of this in the patch notes for 1.4. Players are now demanding llamas:
