Battlefield 2042 has been struggling with some issues since Early Access. One that concerns many players is known as “rubberbanding” – a problem with connection and performance. The development team is already promising a solution.
What kind of bug is this? Since release, Battlefield 2042 has been having issues with servers and performance. One of these problems is “rubberbanding.” In this phenomenon, models and players are pulled across the game world, like on a rubber band.
This can affect only the visual aspect when you are watching, as well as your own gameplay. It increasingly occurs that players take a step forward and are immediately pulled back.
It is particularly deadly when you are in a jet or helicopter and an evasive maneuver is not registered, causing you to crash into the next obstacle or the ground, as shown by a reddit user.
In extreme cases, characters can even be thrown several hundred meters away. This is not always rubberbanding, but can also be caused by faulty collision detection. Among players, however, it is treated as the same problem:
Such cases are especially frustrating when players are reset after a long journey. Because the maps of Battlefield 2042 are considered too large by many fans. Fortunately, the developers are already working on the problem and have even found a possible solution.
A gadget is causing problems, will be disabled
This is how the developers are reacting: On the evening of November 16, the development team announced that they will take a closer look at rubberbanding (via Twitter.com). Just a day later, on November 17, a patch for this will be in the game.
In particular, a gadget is said to have caused problems: the “Proximity Sensor” (German: Umgebungssensor). This is a throwable object that marks enemies in the vicinity. This apparently led to increased rubberbanding.
However, some players also report that certain elements of Levolution can cause lags and thus lead to errors – for example, when large oil tanks are destroyed. In any case, the developers are currently working on a solution.
Are there any other problems? Currently, one of the bigger issues is also the spread of assault rifles. Many players find them too inaccurate and they urgently need a revision. A developer has already promised that they will look into it.
Along with this, players have discovered that the hitboxes of specialists are too large. You can kill players without hitting them. Interestingly, some fans don’t mind this at all, as long as these hitboxes are consistent.
In any case, many players are currently hoping for a Day-One patch for the release on November 19, which is supposed to fix the problems. However, we do not yet know what exactly will come with this patch.
