Leveling Weapons in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 can turn into real work. However, players have now found a trick that dishes out so much weapon XP in just a few seconds that you’ll hardly keep up with counting.
Players of Call of Duty have a strange hobby: leveling weapons. We are constantly working to max out some gun. We need attachments, Gold Camos, and most importantly, the feeling of having accomplished something.
If you look for leveling tips shortly after the release, you often find references to the large “Invasion” mode – nicely mowing down bots behind enemy lines and enjoying the XP.
However, the mode has thus far hidden its most efficient method of leveling weapons. Clever players have now discovered the method and could hardly believe how quickly the weapons leveled up. The ingredients: an enemy manned tank and the field upgrade “Diminishing Mine”.

How does the trick work? Sneak or drive close to an enemy “IAV” – that’s a version of the tanks. You can recognize it because the hatch on top is open for entry. It should slowly become clear that things are about to get dangerous.
The tank must be occupied by an enemy soldier – otherwise, the “Diminishing Mine” can’t do its job. Gather all your courage, jump onto the enemy tank, and place your Diminishing Mine on top of the open hatch.
After that, pull out the weapon you want to level and enjoy the ascent at record speed:
The mine secures you XP as long as it is active or until you or the enemy tank go down. A real XP feast – although some players warn in the Reddit thread.
The high amount of XP in such a short time could be perceived as a “suspicious value”. Some players therefore warn of a possible ban.
Both mechanics – tank and mine – work normally, as they would in other situations. However, the combination of the two currently provides a significant boost to weapon XP.
However, we expect that the trick will be nerfed soon. Either soon or at the latest at the start of Season 1 of Modern Warfare 2 – that would be on November 16.
