New Samsung Odyssey Ark focuses on extreme curvature
For gaming monitors, the curvature of the display is specified in R. Many monitors start with a curvature of 1800. The smaller the number, the stronger the curvature of the curve.
The new gaming monitor from Samsung has a curvature of 1000R, which is said to come closest to the human field of vision. With the T55, Samsung already has an extremely curved monitor in its range, but this display only offered 75 Hz. Now the manufacturer is expanding its portfolio with another monitor.
The 55-inch model is called Odyssey Ark and consists of a huge display panel. It can also be rotated 90 degrees. This is helpful, for example, when you have many windows open on your desktop, such as emails, an online call, or meeting notes.
For this reason, the monitor has a large stand so that it can also be rotated. Additionally, there is a remote control that you can place on your desk. This allows you to change the orientation of the windows or the screen resolution. At first glance, this seems quite intuitive.
What does such curvature bring? The curvature of a curved monitor ensures that you can immerse yourself more deeply in the gaming experience. In technical terms, this is called immersion.
But aside from immersion, such curvature also has practical benefits. The bulge is based on the natural curvature of the human eye. This improves the viewing experience, as you no longer perceive content on your monitor in a distorted way. Additionally, the curvature of the display provides a wider field of view.
When will the gaming monitor be available and what will it cost? Samsung has stated that the monitor is expected to officially go on sale in the second quarter of 2022. Samsung has not yet disclosed a price, but we assume that the device is unlikely to be inexpensive. The Odyssey Neo G9 already costs over 2000 euros.
The monitor impresses gamers and YouTubers
What are the reactions? Most users and viewers are highly impressed by the monitor presented. The YouTuber “Booredatwork.com” was able to try out the monitor at CES 2022, and his viewers commented under the video that the device looks really good.

With the Odyssey Neo G9, Samsung introduced a high-end monitor for gamers. The device costs more than 2000 euros, but many testers were convinced by Samsung’s new device.
