Gameplay for the new MMORPG New World is currently scarce, as previous tests were under an NDA, a non-disclosure agreement. One player seems unfazed and is now showing 8 hours of footage covering all possible content of the game – although that footage is from 2020.
What kind of gameplay is this? The YouTuber OPILOK has posted two videos, each about four hours long, and partially streamed them live on YouTube. Both videos feature gameplay from New World.
The tests were indeed under NDA, so content was not meant to be shared. Typically, there are legal consequences for those who sign such a contract and then break it.
Nonetheless, the videos showcase nearly every aspect of the game from character creation to class gameplay to PvE content. Details about the environment and equipment are also visible.
Presumably, both videos will be deleted soon if Amazon opts to take them down for copyright violations. For now, we have embedded them here for you:
Does New World really look like this? It’s hard to say exactly where the content comes from. One user on YouTube estimates that the images are from the preview of the Reekwater update at the end of 2020. There, MeinMMO editor Leya Jankwoski has already explored and fished.
The footage definitely comes from an earlier version before January 2021 and from an older alpha. The leaker even re-uploaded the videos a second time after the first takedown. By the time of New World’s release or the upcoming beta, further content changes may occur.
The developers have already revealed a few changes. For instance, PvP and leveling processes in New World will be altered, both crucial aspects of the game.
Closed Beta is coming and promises more current videos
On July 20, the closed beta of New World starts, which this time is not under an NDA. In the days following the beta release, you will definitely get to see new gameplay. The release is scheduled for August 31.

Many players currently place their hopes on New World as the new, major MMORPG from the West. Generally, the genre is well positioned in 2021, as many titles are being released.
