In the shooter “Call of Duty”, trash talk is part of the game. However, a boy recently took it too far at a tournament and was thrown out of his school team. His newfound fame became his downfall.
This is the situation:
- In the USA, “school sports” is a much bigger deal than it is here in Germany. While we have clubs competing in sports outside of school, in the USA, it’s done in schools. Traditionally in sports like football or basketball.
- In the USA, however, the shooter “Call of Duty” is also played as school sports.
- Apart from school sports: During a “4 versus 4” tournament for $3,000 from the “Content Gaming Network” in Destiny, Florida, two teams faced off. But it escalated.

This is the clip that went viral: After the match between the two teams, ColdFront and Valence, there was an extensive trash talk between the young men.
Across rows of PCs, the players of both teams shouted at each other at the top of their lungs. Essentially, they told each other, “to get lost,” “you’re just terrible,” or “a piece of shit.”
One player stood out in the scenes. He puffed himself up and shouted:
Where is the owner? Hey, this is the second time you send a team from Florida to lose against me! You’re wasting thousands of dollars to lose against me.
The clips have been going around the world in recent days and received a lot of attention. Alone through Barstool Esports, the clip received 7.7 million views.
School expels player from e-sports program
This is now the punishment: The clip of the argument has reached so many views that it went “viral” and could no longer be ignored by the school of one of the players. A player known as “Q” reports that he was thrown out of his school’s e-sports program because he engaged in this trash talk at a “local tournament,” which he believes is simply part of Call of Duty.
He also did not say anything racist or sexist, nothing offensive. He couldn’t just sit there and let himself be shouted at without defending himself.
From the “Miami University,” there was a statement that they uphold love and honor in all aspects of life. They believe in treating opponents with respect, whether online or in real life.
The “player in question” broke this agreement, and therefore measures were taken (via twitter).
Q was upset afterward: Although he had been warned before his expulsion, it was only for minor things: He had shot at corpses and used the Owen Gun against a school team that they were already leading.
Why did it escalate like this? According to the player, there had been bad blood between the two teams for a while. The owner of the other team accused him of abusing the attention drug Adderall. Therefore, after a comeback win, he let himself go. However, he wants people to know: He has no problem with the players of the opposing team – only with the owner.
Q says he is disappointed to have been expelled from his school team. However, he now has many more followers on Twitter.
