A screenshot from the older MMORPG Cabal Online sends shivers down the spines of gaming fans: everything is filled with bots.
This screenshot circulated on reddit about “Cabal Online,” from an MMORPG that many played about 10 or 12 years ago.
The screenshot shows a single player surrounded by an army of uniform bots. In the chat, one can read the familiar bot goldselling spam known from many MMORPGs: “Cheap and Fast.”
The screenshot was posted under the title “When someone asks me about the state of Cabal Online.“
- Other players say this is not an exception. They have played themselves and Cabal Online is now overrun by bots. They wonder: How can it be profitable for a game like Cabal Online that there are so many bots? What are they farming and who in God’s name is supposed to buy that?
- However, other players reassure that it is not as bad as portrayed here. This flood of bots only exists in the low-level area.
- In general, there is agreement that it is a shame when MMORPGs that used to be enjoyed are so haunted by bots.
Bots and Gold Sellers Can Drain the Lifeblood of MMORPGs
Mein MMO thinks: Bots are a plague in MMORPGs. Especially in older or smaller games where the publisher does not look after combating them as actively, bots can become a real problem that sucks the lifeblood out of gameplay.
Games where bots are predominant feel deserted and bleak. Especially when one feels they are the only person in a sea of bots, they are particularly damaging to the MMORPG experience.
But even in popular MMORPGs like WoW or Final Fantasy XIV, the problem of bots and gold spam exists.
As long as bots and gold spam are profitable, there will always be people who find ways and means to benefit from it – especially when the publisher does not take a firm stand against it.
