The remastered version of the first Borderlands is launching today. We will tell you when it’s happening and what you can expect. What time can you start the download on PS4, Xbox One, and Steam?
What does the remastered version of Borderlands offer? Borderlands 1 is nearly 10 years old and therefore does not look very fresh anymore. The developer studio Gearbox is now giving the game a facelift.
- Included are, besides the main game, the DLCs “The Zombie Island of Doctor Ned”, “Mad Moxxi’s Underdome Riot”, “The Secret Armory of General Knoxx”, and “Claptrap’s New Robot Revolution”.
- The textures have been revamped and offer a resolution of 4K.
- You can play with HDR on consoles.
- A minimap can now be toggled on directly in the game.
- 6 new legendary weapons are being introduced.
- Junk can be marked more easily as such.
- There are additional customization options for characters.
- Balancing optimizations are making their way into the game.
- On consoles, you can play with 4 friends in split-screen mode.
- You can adjust your field of view with a FOV slider.
- On PC, the remaster update is free.
What does the Borderlands GOTY edition not offer? PC players have to forgo a few things. These include:
- The split-screen mode
- HDR
- Support for ultrawide resolutions

How do the players react? The fans of Borderlands are very excited to see how the Game of the Year edition plays. Because the original version was not as comfortable as Borderlands 2, which is why the sequel is also more popular. The adjustments could now bring the two titles closer together gameplay-wise.
Additionally, players see the release of the Borderlands GOTY as an opportunity to play through the series again before the launch of Borderlands 3. The release of part 3 has now also been officially confirmed.
However, there is currently some confusion about whether the remastered version of Borderlands 1 will be released as a standalone game or just as an update.

When does it start? On Twitter, the developers announced what time it starts:
- Borderlands GOTY edition (PS4) in the PS Store can be downloaded starting at 4 PM.
- The download on Xbox One also starts at 4 PM.
- You can start the download of the Steam version at 7 PM.
Boxed versions of the game will only be available in Canada and the USA.
