Today marks the launch of the new and currently final DLC for Borderlands 3. In “Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck”, things are just as crazy as the name suggests.
When does DLC 4 start? The new DLC launches today, on September 10, 2020. It will be available for PS4, Xbox One, Steam, in the Epic Game Store, and on Stadia.
An official time has not been announced yet, but the patch with DLC support should be available by 6 PM at the latest. At least this has always been the case with previous DLCs.
How do I get DLC 4? The DLC is included in the Borderlands 3 Season Pass. If you have it, you just need to download the expansion as soon as it becomes available.
Additionally, the War DLC will be available for individual purchase in stores. However, the last DLCs were all released for individual download at a slightly later time – and that is likely to be the case with DLC 4 as well.
With this DLC, the Season Pass is also completed; it is the last one for now. However, it seems likely that more content could be delivered in the future.
But what can you expect in the DLC? Here are the highlights of the new expansion.
Fight your way through War’s twisted psyche in DLC 4
This is what the DLC looks like: Even the name of the DLC, “Psycho Krieg and the Fantastic Fustercluck”, is so absurd that the German translation had to buckle. This already gives a hint of how wild the DLC will be.
Because: Scientist Tannis claims to have figured out that the psychos in the world of Borderlands are as crazy as they are because of the place “Kammerhalla”. You would like to ask the psycho badass brawler Krieg about it – but he usually just yells.
So, it goes into the mind of the psycho. You will be a firsthand witness to War’s inner struggle, as he has a split personality: You will encounter both the raging killing machine and the calm version of Krieg. With both, you will try to escape War’s mind alive.
This will not be easy, as expected, because the mind of a psycho is plagued by pretty wild thoughts. Just about everything wants to kill you – there is even an angry train named “Locomobius” that has it out for some of Krieg’s memories. Reunite with familiar faces
Who is roaming around in Krieg’s mind? Since everything in War’s psyche stems from the crazy imagination of the psycho, there are no limits for the characters (see: evil train flying around). This means you can expect not only crazy enemy types but also familiar faces.
The trailer already showed brief glimpses of the vault hunters Lilith, Brick, and Maya – but all through the chaotic filter of War’s memory. Accordingly, one should perhaps expect that they may not all appear in the form we know them. It remains to be seen if more old acquaintances are lounging in War’s memory.
Scoop up even more loot
New gear in the DLC: Keeping track of all the weapons in Borderlands 3 is quite challenging. And the new DLC will again provide new loot: There are new weapons, gear, and cosmetics. Everything you find in War’s mind can also be used outside of his consciousness. All loot also scales with the level of your vault hunter.
Additionally, a max level increase to level 65 is on the way. So it’s worth it to go loot-hunting again and collect better weapons. This is especially fun with multiple players – after all, Borderlands 3 currently belongs to the best multiplayer online shooters.
