In Borderlands 3, money will play a more important role starting tomorrow. It seems one should take full advantage of the final hours of the money event.
What’s happening tomorrow? On Thursday, April 23rd, Borderlands 3 will receive a new update. This will include the Mayhem 2.0 mode and the “Revenge of the Cartels” event. Borderlands 3 will receive a completely new endgame with this patch.
Until then, two mini-events from last week’s update are still running. One of them, “Making it Rain”, gives you a lot of money and runs until Thursday evening at 6 PM. After that, the money rain will stop – but until then, you should stuff as much cash as possible into your pockets.
New event seems to want money from you
What do we need the cash for? Normally, money plays a minor role in Borderlands 3 as soon as you buy all of Marcus’s SDUs. Many players already have vast amounts of money – even in the Handsome Jackpot DLC, a lot of green bills were flying around.
However, the patch notes for the money event included the following note:
The Making It Rain event increases the amount of money that can be collected from regular, Badass, and anointed enemies. This could prove useful later this month when you fight Cartels with the upcoming patch.
How money will prove useful in the cartel event remains open by Gearbox. The story in the event revolves around the Saurian Maurice, who has fallen out with the Cartels – so will we possibly have to pay off debts? Or is there a new gameplay element that demands money from us?
Until the event starts, the answer will likely remain unclear. Randy Pitchford hinted on Twitter that the money event should not be simply ignored:
This is a more important question than you think! https://t.co/4u5T797Iw6

So, those who want to be sure should fill their pockets by tomorrow before it goes after the Cartels.
