The background: On September 13, the third part of the Borderlands series is finally upon us. We summarize the most important facts about the preload, download, and start times.
Where will Borderlands 3 be released and who can start the preload? The loot shooter will be available on:
- PS4
- Xbox One
- PC (Epic Store)
Will Borderlands 3 also be on Steam? Unlike its predecessors, the latest installment will initially be exclusive to the Epic Store on PC. The exclusivity lasts until April 2020, and only then will a Steam release of Borderlands 3 be considered.
There is also the cloud as a platform: On Google Stadia, Borderlands 3 will be playable from day one on Stadia. This is expected to happen in November. An exact release date for Stadia will be announced later.
Is there an Early Access for Borderlands 3? No, you cannot play Borderlands 3 earlier through a special edition.
When does the preload start? The pre-download started last night. From now on, you can download Borderlands 3.
Time for preload and release
Console players on PS4 and Xbox One, as well as PC players, can start the download. It was not initially clear for PC that the Epic Store would not have a preload.
How large is the pre-download? The size of your download will likely range between 45GB (Xbox One) and 75GB (PS4): This is how much storage you need for Borderlands 3 on PS4 and Xbox One.
However, we have received first reports from our community that the preload on PS4 was about 56 GB. A day-one patch may still follow.
Time – What time is the release in Germany?
- PlayStation 4 and Xbox One: On September 13 at midnight. So in the night from Thursday to Friday.
- PC: September 13 at 01:00 am, as it is oriented towards British Summer Time. The start time is also in the night from Thursday to Friday.
