In Borderlands 3 there are extremely powerful weapons without end. “The Lob” was not one of them – until last Thursday.
This is what the patch brought: Last Thursday, as usual, a patch went live. The rather small looking patch adjusted the balance a bit, improved some Dahl rifles as well as four other legendary weapons. One of them was “The Lob”.
“The Lob” is a Torgue shotgun that fires a charged laser ball. It is quite slow, does not fly far, and does not deal much damage. Accordingly, it was rather uninteresting when playing, for example, on Mayhem 4 or difficult tasks like the Maliwan raid or farming bosses.
However, that has now changed: The gun has received three noticeable improvements:
- A new magazine size of 12 instead of 4
- It now fires three magical orbs, instead of just one
- Significant increase in damage per tick
These buffs have significantly strengthened “The Lob” – and brought it back into focus for players.
Players suddenly celebrate “The Lob”, go farming again
Sudden favorite weapon: On Reddit, “The Lob” is being celebrated quite a bit by many fans since the buff. That it is now among the absolute top weapons is shown, for example, in this video where Captain Traunt is defeated with just one shot using “The Lob”:
The problem: Many players simply sold “The Lob” when they encountered it. After all, it was previously considered one of the rather weak legendary weapons. The difference before and after the hotfixes is illustrated, for example, by this comparison from Reddit user Lord_Emperor:
It is no wonder that many players are making their way back to Graveward to farm “The Lob”. What seems to not be so easy anymore:
- “It is almost laughable. Now that I am actually trying to get a “The Lob” from Graveward, I am only getting Lyudas,” reports user raptor_mk. A state that one would have been happy about before the hotfix – after all, the Lyuda is one of the best snipers in the game.
So it is best to check if you still have a dusty “The Lob” lying in the bank. Because strong weapons will be useful for all the new challenges in the coming months:
