Today, a new update for Borderlands 3 is released, bringing many “Quality of Life” changes. Some of these are so good that fans are enthusiastically expressing themselves on reddit.
What’s included in the update? The new patch and hotfix released on July 23 came without much announcement but proves to be surprisingly large. It brings some important and requested changes, including a new way to acquire Legendaries, the removal of pointless anointments on weapons, and balance adjustments.
The entire patch is very well received on reddit. Many players describe it as a “great patch”, and the user Boone_Slayer even claims that “Borderlands 3 is in the best state ever”.
We have compiled the changes of the update in more detail for you.
New Uses for Eiridium and 21 Removed Anointments
What changes with Legendaries? With the new update, you can earn Legendaries through the Fabricator. You need to spend 250 Eridium and will receive 1 to 3 Legendaries in return, although DLC and boss Legendaries may be excluded.
Additionally, you now have a small chance to find Legendaries in the vending machine.
What other changes are there to loot? Regarding loot, Gearbox has made some additional changes with the update:
- The machine from Crazy Earl at Sanctuary now sells you already received rewards from missions for Eridium, making a visit worthwhile again.
- 21 bosses have been revamped, allowing you to farm them better. They have received loot adjustments and a respawn mechanic.
- The quality of loot from chests and Badass enemies has been slightly increased to make them feel more rewarding.

What’s new with the anointments? The biggest change concerns the anointments. Of the currently existing anointments that randomly appear on weapons, 21 will be removed, most of which were considered useless by many players. This includes anointments that trigger in the air or while sliding.
However, anyone who possesses an old anointment should still be able to use it.
What else has changed? The patch also brought adjustments to Mayhem mode, minor balance changes, various bug fixes, as well as optimizations for audio and UI.
The complete list of changes and the adjusted bosses and anointments can be found in the English patch notes.
What’s next for Borderlands 3? A tweet was released outlining the plans for upcoming events in the shooter. Additionally, you can expect the next DLC for Borderlands 3 around September and October.
A new addition could be new skill trees for the vault hunters. At least, that’s what a leak suggests.
