In Borderlands 3 goes live today, on March 26. It brings access to the DLC “Guns, Love, and Tentacles” and the new level cap. We give you the overview.
This is the update: Tonight, by 8 PM German time at the latest, the new patch is expected to go online. Some players can already download the patch and DLC. As a major highlight, it brings the 2nd DLC for Borderlands 3. However, there is finally also an adjustment to the level cap, so you can level up again.
The patch is rounded off with numerous bug fixes and smaller adjustments.
Patch Notes for the new update
What is said about the DLC: There isn’t really any new information on this. It is merely stated that the new patch will bring the DLC to the servers.
This brings the 2nd DLC of Borderlands 3 into play, which introduces new locations and thus also previously unknown enemies.

This is the situation regarding the level cap: As previously announced, a new maximum limit will be introduced at the level. You will now be able to reach level 57. Previously, you could only level up to 53.
With this increase, you can now activate two ultimate skills simultaneously. This allows for entirely new and powerful builds.
New Guardian Rank Perks are coming: With the patch, 3 brand new Guardian Rank Perks will be introduced to the game. These include:
- C’mon and Slam for the Enforcer skill tree
- Too Angry to Die for the Survivor skill tree
- Harmageddon for the Hunter skill tree
Quick start for the DLC: With the update, a feature is also introduced that allows you to select the DLC directly from the menu – even if you create a new Vault Hunter. It will then be created directly at the level required for the DLC. The DLC is available from the point at which you can enter Sanctuary. So it seems that you might be able to skip the initial part of the game. Such a feature had already been hinted at.
These fixes have been addressed: The update finally includes numerous smaller adjustments. Here are some highlights:
- Storage errors during split-screen play have been fixed
- Equipment lower than the level cap no longer drops when both the player and the opponent are at the level cap
- Several sudden game crashes should no longer occur, such as when spending a large amount of Guardian Tokens
