Starting a new run in Borderlands 3 can feel quite slow at the beginning. However, a player find now offers hope for a new feature that could help.
The problem was: You’ve completed the story and now want to try a new run with a different class? Then go for it! However, the intro can take quite a bit of time.
Since shortly after the release of Borderlands 3, many players have wished for a way to skip cutscenes, especially the intro, in a new run. At least the part narrated by Marcus can be skipped since a December patch, once it is loaded. However, the introduction of the vault hunters remains.
Now a cutscene has been found that could save you a lot of time – as it skips far more content than just the intro.
Player finds new cutscene – game start in condensed format?
This is what the new cutscene shows: Reddit user z_3ph1r posted a video in the Borderlands subreddit showing a new cutscene for Borderlands 3. It starts like the familiar intro. However, instead of telling the backstory, Marcus says: “Ah, you want to skip a bit of story? I understand, what a waste of time.”
The video switches to fast forward mode and shows the Sanctuary at the end: “Let’s just jump to the part where you have your own spaceship and a galaxy waiting to be looted,” Marcus adds.
Then a short summary of the story up to this point follows – including the encounter between Lilith and Tyreen. So the cutscene jumps to a part of the story that takes place several hours into the game. “So, are you happy? Then get going,” Marcus says at the end – and then the Sanctuary starts.
What does this cutscene mean? As the user reports, he found the scene in the game data of the Handsome Jackpot DLC. That makes sense, since you can only start the DLC once you have unlocked the Sanctuary in the game.
The players hope that the scene is intended for some sort of quick start feature that could be used when starting a new run – for example in the “True Vault Hunter” mode. Jumping to this part of the story skips some things like the fight against Mouthpiece, but would give direct access to your bank and all the features that come with the Sanctuary. You could then skip the entire introductory part of getting to know the game.
