The latest update from Borderlands 3 has addressed many weapons in the game and nerfed some of the most popular ones. This apparently did not go down well in the community, as fans reacted with mockery and memes.
This is what’s happening in the community: With the latest update of Borderlands 3 from the night of October 17 to 18, many weapons have lost a significant part of their power. For fans, this was a reason to complain about the changes.
Since the patch, various memes have been circulating in the Borderlands 3 subreddit, where fans complain about the nerfs. In a thread with almost 7,000 upvotes, a player refers to the game as “Nerflands 3” and complains about Gearbox’s actions:
Play the way we want! Choose one of four Vault Hunters and use any weapon! It doesn’t matter which, we will nerf that motherf****r into the ground! Because reasons!
Fans criticize that this approach is “not very Borderlands.” Ridiculous strong weapons are simply part of the game. Borderlands is about being crazy and fun. Nerfs and what players consider unnecessary balancing simply don’t fit.
Nerfs cause disputes
What happened to the weapons? The source of the dispute was previously announced nerfs for popular weapons, including the Lyuda, Butcher, and Hellwalker. However, the Flakker seems to have been hit the hardest:
The weapon has gone from “Top 5 to hot garbage.” Originally, the Flakker could shoot a lot of projectiles, all intended to inflict high damage on target. This made it a unique weapon.
However, the spread was not as the developers intended it. Therefore, it has been changed to fire its entire magazine when the trigger is pulled. The original strength of the Flakker seems to have been lost with that.
Dispute among fans: However, there are not just accusations from fans against the developers. Some players see it all more differentiated and complain about the reactions of their fellow players. They react with further memes that mock how others now complain:
Some other users even see that the nerfs were necessary:
The Flakker was ridiculous strong as it was. It had outshined nearly every other weapon. No matter how important your weapon was for your build, the Flakker could probably replace it with ease.

What do you think about all of this? Are the nerfs justified or does something like that have no place in Borderlands?
