On Thursday evening, Borderlands 3 will present the second major DLC. Time to bring out the theories: What could we expect in the next addon?
What makes the DLC special? So far, little official information about the new DLC is known. The only certainty is that it will be presented at PAX East on Thursday evening (March 27) at 8:30 PM. We will keep you updated here at MeinMMO.
The DLC will be the second major campaign expansion for Borderlands 3. This means there will be more than just a small event like the Valentine’s Day event, but several hours of new content – just like it was with the Handsome Jackpot.
The question is: What can we expect? Here are a few theories.

A new level cap
New level cap possible? Only with the recent February patch, the level cap was raised to 53. The developers emphasized that level increases should always be free to obtain. This means: A new max level would definitely not be DLC-exclusive.
However, it is possible that another level tier will be added via update at the time of the DLC release. That would definitely be useful, as one can expect that there will be new loot in the DLC again. Many players would wish to be able to get it directly at a new level instead of having to “farm” it later.
More Borderlands characters
Who could be involved? The developers have already explained that during the course of the four DLCs, we will encounter more familiar faces from the Borderlands universe. This was already the case in the Handsome Jackpot: Here, for example, one met Jack’s doppelganger, Timothy.
So who could be in the next DLC? Among many fans, the former vault hunter Krieg is highly favored. The playable psycho from Borderlands 2 was a fan favorite but has only been noted in Borderlands 3 through echo recordings in which he experiences a mental struggle with himself.
A new story that puts Krieg in the foreground would be exciting. Particularly since he has a good reason to become more active in the story due to his connection with the siren Maya.
While we’re at it with former vault hunters: The Mechromancer class Gaige has also only been absent in Borderlands 3 so far. Paul Sage from Gearbox stated that they would have liked to have her on board. However, there has not yet been a place for the technician – it is possible that this DLC finally provides her with the opportunity.
Lastly, we shouldn’t forget Ava. The siren apprentice played a significant part in the story at the end of Borderlands 3. The developers have already emphasized that they might rely on already existing planets during the course of the DLCs – and have particularly pointed out more of the planet Athenas. Here, a story that revolves around Ava would indeed be appropriate.
More abilities?
What about new skills? The developers have already explained that we should not expect new classes in the DLCs. We will continue to stick with Zane, Amara, FL4K, and Moze. However, new skill trees could be an alternative to completely new vault hunters.
This would allow for a more varied gameplay experience with the current vault hunters. For example, Zane could receive a new gadget, Amara another siren power. FL4K could potentially have a new pet, and Moze could further upgrade her Iron Bear. Then, the skill points from a new level cap would also come in handy.
