In Borderlands 3 the DLC “Moxxi’s Heist of the Handsome Jackpot” has started. The Borderlands Show took a look inside – and beyond.
This is the Borderlands Show: In the Borderlands Show, the developers regularly talk about new content for the game. This time, Anthony Nicholson, Head DLC Producer of Borderlands 3, was a guest.
Nicholson is responsible for all sorts of additional content, such as seasonal events like Bloody Harvest or Takedowns. Yes, Nicholson spoke of Takedowns in the plural – Maliwan Takedown is unlikely to be the last raid-like additional content.
What Comes After the Handsome Jackpot DLC
What Makes DLCs in Borderlands 3 Special: Those who have already taken a look at the first images from the new DLC will notice that the Handsome Jackpot offers an unusual setting. The space casino stands out significantly from previous content – and future DLCs are intended to follow suit. “The DLCs are all unique and differ from each other,” Nicholson explained the creation process: “Let’s do something crazy,” was the motto – and that’s how the casino DLC came about.
“We always ask ourselves: What do we think the community would be most excited about?” said Nicholson, who at least clearly stated one announcement: “With every DLC, there will be new loot and rewards for challenges.” The battles and hurdles in future content are also intended to provide experiences that stand out from what has been experienced so far: “We always want to ensure that boss fights feel unique.”
Where Will the Next DLCs Lead? Fans should not expect that with every DLC, a new planet will be added to the game. “It’s always about gameplay. I don’t think it’s necessarily necessary to always add a new planet.” After all, Borderlands 3 already offers many exciting locations. For example, Nicholson would like to further expand Athenas in the future.
What About Updates, Loot, and Events? In the future, players can also continue to expect regular updates. Bugs, such as the Guardian Rank bug, can still occur and will be fixed – even if this doesn’t always happen as quickly as Nicholson would like.
Furthermore, he hinted: “We’ve heard that people want to specifically farm weapons.” They’ve been working on that and are considering better drop rates.
There will also be new seasonal events in the future. However, Nicholson did not reveal which ones they will be. The new roadmap for 2020, including new events and information about DLCs, will be announced in January.
So, there is still much to look forward to in the future. This player, whose enjoyment of the game was just saved by the community, is likely to be pleased:
