This is the Director’s Cut DLC: That this DLC was going to happen has been known for a while, but now the addon has been presented in more detail. The Director’s Cut in Borderlands 3 will be released on March 18 and will bring quite a bit of new content.
The DLC is part of Season Pass 2, which already included the Designer’s Cut with the Psycho Krieg Mode and new skill trees. It is also included in the Borderlands 3 Ultimate Edition. If you don’t have any of this content, you will need to purchase the DLC – it is not a free update.

Finally a real raid boss for Borderlands 3
Players of Borderlands 3 have long hoped for a classic raid boss for the game. While there have been Takedowns, which are longer, challenging missions that had to be tackled cooperatively – the typical boss was missing.
After this was teased, Gearbox has now revealed: The Director’s Cut also includes a Varkid raid boss named Hemovorous, the Invincible.
This huge insect creature is supposed to drop particularly good loot, but will also be particularly hard to defeat. You will find him on Pandora – behind a door that players have long wondered what is holding it back.
The raid boss will only be accessible to players who own the DLC and have already completed the main story of the game. Additionally, the fight against the monster costs you 500 Eridium, which needs to be gathered as a group.
The boss’s strength is also supposed to scale with your level and the chosen Mayhem mode. So you can expect a tough challenge – no matter how good your own skills and gear are.
More story, more cosmetics
What’s included in the DLC: Besides the boss, a few new story missions will also come with the DLC in Borderlands 3. These revolve around Ava, who produces a podcast about supernatural murder cases.
You will help solve puzzles and uncover the story surrounding the mystery.
Additionally, so-called “Vault Cards” will be introduced, which will allow you to unlock new cosmetics and gear that will scale with your level. This sounds a bit like a Battle Pass: The cards come with three daily challenges and a larger weekly challenge, and the further you progress, the more rewards you will receive.
