This is the story: The Borderlands series predominantly takes place on the planet Pandora. This time, the game world spans several planets and is marked by a crazy combination of science fiction and the Wild West. In Borderlands 3, you will experience a continuation of the story from the previous installments.

In the new installment, you play as one of the new vault hunters. You can choose between the soldier Moze, the siren Amara, the beastmaster FL4K, and the assassin Zane. Your opponents in Borderlands 3 are the “Children of the Vault” led by twins Tyreen and Troy. Additionally, you will meet many characters from previous installments again.
Who is Borderlands 3 suitable for?
Borderlands 3 is the right choice for these players: You are in the right place if you enjoy discovering and collecting vast amounts of different weapons. Especially in co-op mode, Borderlands 3 is a lot of fun.
If you like completely crazy scenarios and wacky humor, this game is also for you. If you are also a fan of science fiction and the Wild West, then you will enjoy the mix of the two genres in Borderlands 3.
These players should stay away from Borderlands 3: If you are more of a fan of realistic shooters, you should probably not get Borderlands 3. The game is quite colorful, crazy, and has a comic-style cell-shading that not everyone will enjoy.
Do I need to know the predecessors? You will have an easier time following the story if you have played the predecessors. The story in Borderlands 3 is quite pronounced for a loot shooter. However, it is not absolutely essential.
With Borderlands 3, you can still have a lot of fun even if you don’t know exactly what escapades have occurred in the previous games. The gameplay mechanics, looting, co-op mode, and the overall impression of the world of Borderlands 3 work even without the story.
How long will I be busy with Borderlands 3?
This is planned for Borderlands 3: Borderlands is not among the typical games-as-a-service. Nevertheless, Borderlands 3 will provide you with new content once you have completed the main campaign.
On one hand, there will be two updates:
- The Bloody Harvest event will bring Halloween to Borderlands 3.
- Later, the Maliwan Takedown update will introduce a new map with tougher enemies and a new boss.
Before the end of the year, the first of four story DLCs will also be released. Those who own the season pass can download it at no additional cost.

When can I play Borderlands 3?
- Release on PS4 and Xbox One: September 13 at 12:00 AM local time.
- Release on PC (Epic): September 13 at 1:00 AM in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
The preload phase begins about 48 hours before the release, so on the upcoming Wednesday.
