A new patch for Borderlands 3 is expected soon. Both Mayhem Mode and the Vault Hunters seem to be facing new changes.
This is how the patch was announced: In a stream, Tyreen’s voice actor Eliza Melendez talked with Grant Kao, the Combat Designer of Borderlands 3. Among other things, they discussed an upcoming patch that is reportedly going to be bigger.
New Patch in Borderlands 3 Adjusts Mayhem Mode and Classes
What the patch will bring: The exact release date for the patch was not discussed by the two in the stream. However, Kao provided some insights into the contents of the patch. Like several hotfixes before, the new patch will likely address some quirks of the Vault Hunters.
Especially Zane will be changed: In particular, Agent Zane will be the focus of the patch. This is urgently needed because: Some of Zane’s abilities are quite bugged. Although a few of Zane’s skills were already corrected in the last hotfix, some are still missing for Zane to keep up in the endgame.
In particular, Zane’s skills that make him stronger the faster he moves should be looked at more closely. Additionally, the longevity of his Digi-Clone is also set to be adjusted – as well as that of FL4K’s pets and Moze’s Iron Bear.
Mayhem Mode will also receive adjustments: Kao does not go into detail about the changes to Mayhem Mode in the stream. However, some modifiers are said to be adjusted. The adjustments to Mayhem Mode are intended to lead players to reconsider or optimize their builds for particularly challenging tasks.
However, it is not the goal for there to be unfair disadvantages. It is possible that weaker builds will be buffed rather than popular builds being weakened.
What about performance? In the past, several hotfixes have been somewhat criticized by the community. The problem: The patches tend to focus more on balancing rather than addressing performance issues – such as in split-screen.
Kao hinted in the stream that work on performance continues. Whether improvements will already be part of the upcoming patch remains unclear.
Will the upcoming patch further improve Borderlands 3? Here’s how the first month since release went:
