This week you can embark on a quest for 14 rare enemies in Borderlands 3. The first event did not go as planned, and players were dissatisfied. We will reveal what happened and whether the second round is worth it.
From October 8 to 14, the second anniversary event in Borderlands 3 is running. “Rare Spawn Hunt” gives you the chance to farm 14 rare enemies that you may have missed while playing. The first event did not provide the desired loot for the players. Can the second week do better?
What are rare enemies? They are mini-bosses that spawn randomly at certain locations. They usually have their own name and are not commonly encountered. Additionally, some of them drop legendary items. Among them are, of course, some legendary weapons.
A first event full of mishaps
This is what the Boss Week brought: The first event for the ten-year anniversary of Borderlands launched last week. It was supposed to give players more incentive to farm different enemies. To achieve this, the drop chance of some bosses and their unique legendary items was increased.
This went wrong: At least that was the plan. However, players were very dissatisfied with the event. Many were not in the mood to celebrate, complaining about low drops despite farming for hours:
I farmed Katagawa more than 60 times and did not get a single legendary class mod. I get more from random world drops than I did from the event last week.

Add to the supposedly poor drop rates are long distances. Many of the bosses can only be reached after long treks or car rides. This made the event uninteresting for some players.
Rosier prospects in week 2?
This is what the second event brings: New week, new luck. The second event “Rare Spawn Hunt” has started and is supposed to offer you exactly what the name suggests. Some unique enemies will definitely spawn during this time and bring their loot:
- Rakkman – “Night Flyer”, legendary pistol
- El Dragon Jr – “Unleash the Dragon,” legendary artifact (Only in Chaos / True Vault Hunter mode)
- Road Dog – “Redline”, legendary shotgun
- Indo-Tyrant – random customization item
- Power Soldiers– random legendary class mods
- Demoskaggon – random legendary shield
- The Unstoppable – “Band of Sytorak”, legendary shield
- Thunk and Sloth – “It’s Piss”, legendary grenade mod
- Maxitrillion – “The Horizon”, legendary shotgun
- Borman Nates – “Psycho Stabber”, legendary pistol
- Princess Tarantella II – “Hive”, legendary rocket launcher
- Dragon Mother – random legendary artifacts (Only in Chaos / True Vault Hunter mode)
- Red Jabber – random legendary grenade mod
- Urist McEnforcer – masterwork crossbow, legendary sniper rifle
This loot is also supposed to be waiting for you with an increased chance. However, players are skeptical about whether this will be true after last week:
I like this event more than last week. Hopefully, all the increased drop chances will actually work this time.

Some even have harsher words for the events:
If the drop rates are as bad as last week, I won’t be playing much at all.

Problems have arisen: Some players were confused as the enemies could not be found despite the official start of the event. This was because the event started a few hours later than planned.
This is how the event is running now: The spawning of the unique enemies is said to be working well. Only a few players complain about the spawn rate of the mini-bosses. However, the problem with the loot remains. Even in the second event week in Borderlands 3, the drops are likely not as hoped.
Is the effort worth it?
Many players recommend skipping the events. They continue to focus on the usual farming spots, especially on the boss Graveward.
However, it can be stated that with guaranteed appearances of the rare enemies, the chance for legendary loot also automatically increases. The more often you can kill the rares, the more items you will get. You should decide for yourself whether you want to dedicate your time to the event or not. We have a few recommendations for you if you decide to do so.
This legendary loot is worth checking out: Among the 14 enemies, there are some special items to be had. Depending on which class and build you play, they may vary in value. However, two of the weapons and one grenade mod are definitely worth a try:
- Redline
- Weapon type: legendary shotgun
- Brand: Torgue
- Origin: “Road Dog”, Splinterlands
- Hive
- Weapon type: legendary rocket launcher
- Brand: Torgue
- Origin: “Princess Tarantella II”, Splinterlands
- It’s Piss
- legendary grenade mod
- Origin: “Thunk and Sloth”, Konrad’s Hold
