The hype surrounding the announcement of Borderlands 3 brings some consequences. The predecessor is popular again and being played actively.
So a few days ago when Borderlands 3 was announced, the excitement among gamers was huge. One of the best co-op shooters of all time finally gets its long-awaited sequel. This seems to have encouraged many players to take another look at the predecessor – because it suddenly has as many players as it did in 2014.

Player count more than doubled: Anyone looking at the most popular games on Steam in recent days must have rubbed their eyes in disbelief. Borderlands 2 has reached new peak values in recent days, which it hasn’t seen in the past 5 years.
Thus, the number of “Peak Players,” meaning the highest number of players who are active at the same time, rose above 44,000 in March again. This was last the case in 2014, almost 5 years ago. For comparison: In February, the peak was slightly below 17,000 players.
Also, the number of average players is rising again and is likely to reach new highs in the coming days. The current “average number of players over the last 30 days” is already over 10,000 players – last seen in October 2014.
Good time to catch up on the story: Those who want to prepare for Borderlands 3 and refresh their knowledge about the story of the “Vault Hunters” and the planet Pandora should grab a few friends and start playing now. The opportunity has never been cheaper.
There is still half a year until the release of Borderlands 3, if this date is to be believed.
Are you also feeling excited about the old Borderlands titles again? Or did you play them so intensely back then that they are now getting tiresome?
