The BlizzCon 2023 is approaching. We will tell you where you can watch live and for free and what highlights are coming.
After a break, Blizzard’s trade fair will take place again in 2023. The BlizzCon has always been regarded as a gaming highlight, where new announcements and the future of long-standing franchises are discussed. We have all important information about BlizzCon 2023 for you so that you are perfectly prepared.
When does BlizzCon take place? BlizzCon will take place on the first weekend of November 2023, that is, on November 3rd and 4th. Since the fair takes place in the USA, the times are somewhat unusual for us Europeans.
There is no exact schedule for BlizzCon yet. However, you should prepare for the fair starting in the evening (around 7:00 PM) on Friday and lasting until 3:00 AM at night. Similar times will likely be the case on Saturday.
You should prepare for a long night if you want to follow the event live.
In general, the major announcements usually take place at the beginning of the fair – during the deep night, community events, e-sport tournaments, or interviews with individual developers will be held.
If you cannot or do not want to attend live, we will of course report on all relevant new announcements.
Where can you watch BlizzCon 2023? The event will be held simultaneously on Twitch and YouTube. You can follow all content live there. We will provide the exact links to the respective channels here once they are known.
What to expect from BlizzCon 2023
We summarize what highlights you can expect at BlizzCon 2023. However, please note that these are speculations and theories. We will only see the actual reveals when the time comes.
World of Warcraft (Retail)
What we can expect for World of Warcraft is already quite clear. Blizzard will present the next big expansion and thus reveal where the next adventure leads. There are already many theories and supposed leaks – such as “Voidstorm” – but none of them sounded particularly plausible. So it is possible that we will experience a surprise here – at least if, like in almost every previous year, there is not a last-minute leak.
It is certainly exciting that Chris Metzen will present the new features – as he is back as story chief at Warcraft.
World of Warcraft (Classic)
There are plenty of rumors about WoW Classic. It is pretty certain that an announcement is coming – after all, Blizzard has already revealed that “upcoming content for Classic” could be played at BlizzCon. Basically, three possibilities come into consideration:
- WoW Classic+: A further development of Classic with new, fresh content in the “Classic style”. This has been long desired by the community.
- New Season: The season of mastery was very popular in Classic. It is possible that Blizzard is planning and presenting a new season with a different theme.
- WoW Cataclysm Classic: Blizzard could simply bring the next WoW expansion into play and release Cataclysm again. However, this seems rather unlikely, as Cataclysm is viewed rather critically by many “Classic” fans.
What is true, we will only find out at BlizzCon. However, it is clear that Blizzard has been working on a “Patch 1.15” in the background for months – which sounds like a continuation of Classic.
Overwatch 2
In Overwatch 2, a new hero is announced. This is a tank. Although there is no official confirmation yet, several in-game hints suggest that this is “Mauga”. This character was already expected during Overwatch 1 but was never implemented.
Furthermore, Overwatch 2 has already announced that there will be changes to the Battle Pass in the future. They want to make improvements that primarily benefit the players. Whether these changes will be discussed at BlizzCon – where often little or no information is shared about the monetization of the games – remains to be seen.
Diablo 4
In Diablo IV, the rumor mill is stirring. There are speculations that Blizzard could announce either an expansion or a DLC with a new class.
If there is not such a big announcement, new information about the future of the seasons is certainly going to be exciting. Because while the first season of Diablo IV was viewed rather negatively, the second season seems to have been quite a success.
Warcraft Rumble
The mobile game Warcraft Rumble
will be globally released to coincide with the start of BlizzCon on November 3, 2023. It can be assumed that Blizzard will present the game at BlizzCon in more detail and perhaps outline some plans for the future.
Hearthstone
For Hearthstone, the next expansion “Showdown in the Wasteland” will be extensively presented. Although the highlights of the expansion are already known, some details and still unknown cards will most likely only be announced at BlizzCon.
For Hearthstone, it is also expected that there could be a new game mode. However, since the last ideas, such as the Mercenary mode or “The Hook”, received very little positive feedback, fans hope for something with significantly more substance.
Other games?
Blizzard is already working on a survival game. However, this is likely still in a very early stage of development. Nevertheless, it is possible that we might get some first insights and at least be able to narrow down a rough release window.
Furthermore, there are currently rumors that Blizzard wants to revive the MOBA “Heroes of the Storm” because there is a new patch on the test server, which is being reported on various sites. However, Blizzard has still released minimal, small patches even after the “death” of the game – the last one just in September 2023. So, a revival of HotS is quite unlikely and should not be seriously expected by anyone.
What are you looking forward to at BlizzCon 2023? Will you watch it live?
