Attention BlizzCon fans! The replacement date for BlizzCon 2020 is set, albeit for next year.
In 2020, there will be no annual BlizzCon for the first time in a long while. This is due to the ongoing Corona situation, which makes large events nearly impossible worldwide. A few months ago, Blizzard announced that it would host a backup event that would take place digitally. Now, there are finally initial details and a date for the “BlizzConline” in February 2021.
When does the event take place? The BlizzConline will be held on February 19 and 20, 2021, so quite early in the new year. The event will be purely digital, similar to events like the previous gamescom or other purely streaming-based fairs.
What can we expect to see? So far, very little is known about the content of the fair. Blizzard has announced the date, but that was mainly so the community can prepare contributions and submissions.
Traditionally, the BlizzCon consists of a large community component, such as a film competition, a cosplay event, or a talent competition. All these things usually take place at BlizzCon but tend to go a bit “under the radar” for many players who are only interested in new announcements and information from their favorite games.
Which big surprises await at BlizzConline 2021 is not yet known. However, it is currently expected that information about the following games will be announced:
- Diablo Immortal
- Diablo IV
- WoW: Shadowlands – First major patch
- Hearthstone – New expansion
- Overwatch 2
However, nothing has been confirmed yet. Detailed information about the schedule usually appears only a few days before the actual event. So, one will have to wait until February 2021.
What does BlizzConline cost? Prices for virtual tickets to BlizzConline have not yet been announced. If we look at the “real” BlizzCons, the price is likely to be around €30 again. But that is also not confirmed. However, perhaps there will be as cool rewards as at BlizzCon 2019…
Are you excited for such a purely digital BlizzCon(line)? Or would you somehow miss the feeling of being at the event?
