In WoW Classic, things are getting cleaned up. In the last two weeks, Blizzard has banned tens of thousands of bots once again.
In World of Warcraft Classic, bots remain a significant problem. Although Blizzard has already taken strong action and banned over 74,000 bots and cheaters in recent weeks, players are still dissatisfied. Now, the developers have stepped up again and removed tens of thousands more players.
What happened? In the official WoW forum, Blizzard has posted a new update explaining that they have not been idle in recent days but have banned numerous bots. More than 40,000 bots, cheaters, and fraudsters have reportedly been punished in the past 14 days.

What does this mean? Blizzard states that they currently impose sanctions on an average of between 2,000 and 3,000 per fraudster. On particularly successful days, this can reach up to 4,000 accounts. This affects both fraudsters in America and Europe, as well as Korea and Taiwan.
The reports from players continue to be particularly helpful in this regard. However, Blizzard is constantly working to improve their detection systems to catch bots and fraudsters. This is quite difficult, as bot operators and fraudsters invest a lot of time and energy into avoiding detection.
Suddenly, Blizzard is talking a lot about bots
Why is Blizzard now talking so much about this? Over the past year, numerous players have complained that their reports seemingly have no effect. Blizzard has hardly communicated how and whether any action is being taken against bots. Worse, many players felt that their reports were entirely ineffective. It is clear that Blizzard now wants to clarify through more frequent communication: Actions are being taken, we are listening to our players, and we will not let WoW Classic die.
This is exactly what the players wanted. Regular updates, preferably garnished with some hard numbers that clearly show how fraudsters are dealt with.
What do you think of these latest numbers? A good sign for WoW Classic? Or is it still far too little?
