Blizzard has released a new trailer for the release of Diablo 4. It tells the story of the new hack-and-slash. However, some scenes leave fans puzzled, as they often only last a few seconds.
This is the new trailer: The nearly two-minute video consists of a compilation of various cinematics. You won’t find any gameplay there.
Instead, the voices of Lorath and Lilith narrate what Diablo 4 is really about: the war between heaven and hell, the return of Lilith and Inarius, and what the two actually have to do with our world Sanctuary.
Unlike the last story video with the pleasant narration, this time there are some details visible that apparently come from the game. It’s these that are leaving players guessing.
What fans have found: At least 3 points are raising questions in the community:
- a strange shadow at 0:46 (cover image)
- a soulstone at 0:44
- the apparent death of an important person at 1:35
The shadow is cast by an unknown character and does not originate from him or Lilith, as one user notes on Reddit. Now fans are wondering who that could be – and there are speculations that Diablo might be visible.
But Diablo is currently not in Diablo 4. The soulstone also causes confusion. Normally, powerful demons are imprisoned in them. How did Lilith get such a stone, and what does she intend to do with it?
For better clarity, we have summarized the story of Diablo 4 for you. You can see the trailer here:
“Unexpected spoiler at the end, Blizz …”
What exactly the soulstone is about is hard to say. It may be related to the shadow, but the silhouette does not match any known character from the Diablo franchise. And only powerful demons are imprisoned in them. Probably a new opponent.
However, more fans are concerned with the scene at the end, where Mother Superior Prava is seemingly torn apart by demons. It is shown how she is grabbed by several hands and pulled to the ground. A player complains: “So we now know that she is being torn apart in the fight.”
But it is not clear as others point out, and thus not fully understood. She might still perform some kind of protective spell or be saved. Then again, it’s not reprehensible if the supposedly good Inarius simply does not take care of his loyal followers – that fits into a Diablo game.
A significant discussion is also emerging, just as with the last trailer for Diablo 4, regarding the accompanying music. Recently, players have amused themselves over “Belial Eilish”, while particularly older fans seem to have trouble with the modern song “Nightmare” by Halsey. Whether the music fits or not must be decided by each individual.
What exactly the scenes are about, you will be able to find out from June 6 onwards, or from June 2 if you have pre-ordered the Deluxe Edition. You can find all the information about the release in our overview:
