Diablo 4 will receive a complete overhaul of its item system with the upcoming Season 4. Blizzard presented this extensively in the latest Campfire Chat, including a game crash. This evokes laughter and concern among fans, and Twitch nerd Asmongold shakes his head. But is this really a bad sign?
What kind of change is this?
- Blizzard is completely revamping the itemization of Diablo 4, from the affixes included to the Codex of Power.
- Instead of over 200 properties, many of which are useless, there will be significantly fewer that actually strengthen the character.
- Aspects will directly move into the Codex with the overhaul, instead of cluttering your bank. Even player trading will be revamped.
This happened during the stream: Just as the developers were about to present the new features of the revamped loot system, the game crashed. One click on a new weapon affix was enough to close the game and show the desktop (here’s the Timestamp on Twitch at 01:08:07).
The devs in the stream quickly pointed out with a laugh that this is a “live build.” Such things can indeed happen.
Currently, Season 4 is still in development, and Blizzard is even taking extra time to ensure everything runs smoothly: The start has been delayed by one month. Beforehand, there is supposed to be a test server where the features will likely be checked again.
A major topic being discussed right now is ray tracing, which is coming to the game soon:
“Blizzard, this is your last chance”
In the Twitch chat, most viewers simply reacted with laughter and mockery about what happened. However, the clip of the crash is now circulating online, and Asmongold has already used it for a reaction (via YouTube).
The Twitch streamer admonishes Blizzard that this is the last chance for Diablo 4 and even bangs his head on his desk for… emphasis, probably. Maybe also just out of frustration.
In the comments on YouTube, there are a few critics who see the crash as a bad omen. They think that something like this shouldn’t happen so close to release.
Others with apparently more experience find the crash not too concerning. Such a crash with a click can be caused in programming by a very simple error in the code that can be fixed with little effort.
On Reddit, which is usually so critical of Diablo 4, there is even praise for exactly this scene. It is mentioned that it feels human.
One user himself experienced something like this during a presentation. Although it is embarrassing, you can see that the devs are satisfied – for the first time since release, it is said.
