A secondary profession in World of Warcraft will soon be removed. First Aid will disappear from players’ possession and be integrated into another profession.
A new patch of the Alpha for Battle for Azeroth, the next expansion of World of Warcraft, has been deployed to the Alpha servers. Besides many changes to spells and talents, data miners have especially noticed one change: the profession “First Aid” is currently planned to be abolished.
However, players will not have to completely forgo bandages. According to the data, the recipes will be implemented into the tailoring profession. Whether Blizzard will continue to work on the concept of First Aid is uncertain. At least with Battle for Azeroth, new bandages will be craftable, although only for tailors.
Last chance for “First Aid” achievements
This also means that all achievements related to the profession will no longer be obtainable. The corresponding achievements will be moved to the “Legacy” tab and will no longer be worth any points. This includes all First Aid achievements but also some meta achievements like “Exceptional Skills,” for which all four secondary professions had to be leveled to a certain point.
Please note that these changes are based on data from the early Alpha of Battle for Azeroth. A lot could change before the release.
Cortyn says: Honestly, this step has been long overdue. Blizzard has been unclear for years about where exactly they want to go with First Aid. While it may have been “okay” at the start of an expansion, it has become useless after the first few weeks.
To be honest, I last used First Aid during Burning Crusade to ease the healing burden against Illidan. Since then, I can’t recall any instance where it was truly helpful.
Will you miss First Aid in World of Warcraft? Or have you never used the profession at all?
