If you just start Diablo 4, you will be greeted by a large banner that reminds you of the upcoming Season 1. The display stretches across the entire screen and strongly reminds you of the activities you can prepare for. The tips are actually quite useful.
When does Season 1 start?
- Season 1 starts on July 20 at 7:00 PM German time. From then on, you can create Season characters.
- On July 18, the preparatory patch 1.1.0 will arrive, bringing new items to the game. These can even be used for eternal characters.
- In our overview, you will find all information about the mechanics, content, and Battle Pass of Season 1.
What should I take care of beforehand? In the welcome screen, Blizzard explains the start of Season 1 again and gives some useful tips for preparation. Before the start of Season 1, you should:
- complete the campaign, otherwise you cannot play the Season story
- completely uncover Sanctuary
- find all Lilith statues
- log in with one or more eternal characters starting from patch 1.1.0
The uncovered areas as well as all discovered statues will be transferred to the Season realm. This means: you will receive the buffs from the statues and see the map as it is on the status of your eternal characters.
However, you will need to log in with the corresponding characters beforehand to ensure the progress is registered. Log in with the most advanced character, or with multiple if you have divided the exploration.
Progress view will also be transferred, after significant criticism from the community. Reputation for the statues and areas will be accounted for. So you should have reputation level 2 in all areas with a completely uncovered map at the start of Season 1.
Start of Season 1 – The Ideal Preparation
If you want to do even more to prepare, you can already think about which class you want to play and plan a leveling route accordingly. Different classes and builds progress better with different content.
In general, you should level up fastest with dungeon grinds, hell floods, and occasional whispers if that is important to you. But remember, that some of the strongest builds will be nerfed, probably before Season 1.
Season 1 will also feature special gems that will allow for even better builds. Which ones specifically are still unknown. However, that is irrelevant for leveling, as you will probably still be able to use the classic leveling builds. You can find them in our tier list:
Otherwise, you cannot do much preparation. However, we recommend not to completely burn out before Season 1, so that you actually don’t feel like playing. Gold and items will not be carried over into the season anyway.
If you have uncovered the map and activated all Lilith altars, then a break may also be advisable. This is even the developers’ own setting:
